Come on Eileen

Sugarland and Sara Bareilles

cover "Come On Eileen"

I love Sugarland and I love this cover with Sara Bareilles.  Can't listen to this without getting up and dancing!

Garden report 8/2/11

Well, the beans are done.  I pulled all the green peas several weeks ago and this morning I pulled all the green beans.  It's just too hot and dry for them, they have given up trying to bloom and the beans on the plant were starting to shrivel even with me watering them.  Private #1 helped me pull the beans and pick anything that was ready and Private #2 went through the bean plants pulling any that were still on.  We didn't even get enough for a meal.  I guess I'll cook them up for lunch and everyone can have just a few.

We did get quite a few tomatoes, so I think we're going to make some ketchup later.  I've never made it before, so it will be a first for all of us.  I take that back, I watched Mom make it when I was a kid, but that doesn't really count.  Anyway, the kiddos are excited about making our own, so we're going to give it a shot.

I'll take pictures for you.

Profound words from Private #2 at breakfast

Mom,

Syrup is like gravy for pancakes.  THAT'S why it's so good!

Eighteen pounds gone

No, not off me!  I wish I could lose 18 pounds that fast!  I've been cleaning and cleaning out stuff today.  I decided to weigh the trash bag of broken toys, books, ruined clothing and just JUNK that I'm getting rid of.

18 pounds.

Not too bad and there is another trash bag that the kids are working with in their room.  I think I might keep track of what we get rid of in say, a week, poundage wise.  Just to see how much 'lighter' the house really is.

OK, going to send this thing live

I haven't given out the link to here to anyone up to now.  I think I'm going to give it to a few friends and invite them over.  Great, like minded people who want to make great futures for their kids and the world.

So - if you are one of them that got my message and was kind enough to drop in

Welcome and thanks!

Tina

You'll be glad to know

that whatever dug under the steps did NOT return last night to dig again.  I guess being 'buried alive' made them decide to live elsewhere.  It dawned on me last night the most likely culprit was either a rabbit or a skunk.  So I'm really glad they moved on, too!

Cooling off the cheap way

We went down to a river and played in the water.  It's ridiculously hot and we waited until early evening to go to keep from getting massively sunburned and heat exhaustion but we had a great time.

So did the kids

I took a few pictures just because I wanted to and because I thought the remains of the old dam were neat.
